I love this quote from the book Destined for the Throne, “We must constantly remind ourselves and affirm that we are in Christ–and because Satan cannot touch Christ, he cannot touch us. ‘No one who has become a part of God’s family makes a practice of sinning, for Christ, God’s Son, holds him securely, and the devil cannot get his hands on him’ (1 John 5-18, TLB) Satan wants the believer to forget that he is risen and exalted with Christ, that he is now, in his spirit, united with Christ on the throne with al enemies under his feet. If we are held in bondage to demons of fear, sickness, disease, or limitations of any kind, it is only through ignorance of what Christ has done for us, or by forgetting who we are in Him.”
Are you saying, “WOW”, and maybe even re-reading the quote? I’ve read it over several times. “We must constantly remind ourselves we are in Christ” This is right up there with pray without ceasing. I find that my quality of life is greatly improved when I am able to follow this advice. Our identity impacts everything, and when I forget who I am by falling prey to fear, man-pleasing, busyness, or any limitation, I am forgetting who Christ says I am! The enemy of my soul, your soul, wants us to forget this very important fact. He does not want us to understand what Christ really has done for us through the Cross. He does not want us to understand that he is under our feet, not the other way around.
I’ve felt called to to bring the message of identity to others for years now, all the while learning more about it myself. I believe it is the foundation of success. The more we understand and believe who we are, the more we understand and believe who Christ is. And, the more we understand who Christ is, the more we understand who we are. It’s a circle, the circle of our life.
We are the Body, his body. He is the head. And, even though he could function without us just fine, he doesn’t. He chooses to be in partnership with us, His Body. This is the gift we received at the Cross! He has given His Church, the Body, you and me, unlimited potential. He intends for us, his Church, to walk in the same power and freedom as Jesus! God has given us his divine resources to access as his believing Church! “And now out of his fullness we are fulfilled! And from him we receive grace heaped upon more grace!” John 1:16 (TPT)
So, are we there as a Church Body? Or are we giving in to the limitations of unbelief? I know that I have to constantly remind myself of who I am and who Christ is, or I immediately falter into numerous limitations. It is our responsibility as the Body of Christ to believe who we are, to tell others who God says they are, and to live accordingly.
In my book, I Am Real, I walk you through the journey of discovering my identity in Christ. In my devotional/journal, I give you the opportunity to write about your own journey with Jesus and to discover who he says you are. He has rooted you. He has empowered you. He has created you to be authentic. He wants you to know that you are loved.
This book is simple to understand and only takes a few minutes to read each day. It makes a great gift for Mother’s Day, or just for your friends. Check out the link below and begin the journey of identity with God and others.
