Cancel That

God is raising up a bold people to speak out for liberty
Whatever happens, keep living your lives based on the reality of the gospel of Christ, which reveals him to others….I’ll know that you stand united in one Spirit and one passion-celebrating together as conquerors in the faith of the gospel. And then you will never be shaken or intimidated by the opposition that rises up against us, for your courage will only prove as a sure sign from God of their coming destruction and that you have found a new life. Philippians 1:27-28

Everyday it seems that something or someone is being canceled. We lurk around now on a daily basis wondering who or what will be next. We have an eggshell country. Our mouths are masked, are lips are closed, all out of fear. Every word is under the scope and labeled good or bad. Hate speech is assigned to words that are not even close to hate! Good people that are fighting for freedom are canceled, and I’m certain this is something that does not feel good. I’ve been praying about this. God reminds me that the world will most certainly do horrible things, especially to truth seekers. They will call out “Cancel that, cancel that, and cancel that!” But, in God’s eyes, we are NOT canceled. It’s impossible to cancel a human being. God created you to be, and even when some people work to eliminate all that you’ve worked for, you still exist! God’s Spirit is alive and well in those that love him, and he will always be there, never to be canceled. We cannot give up. “you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live in the holy awe of God-which brings you trembling into his presence. God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:12-13.

I read a book several years ago about a man in China that became a Christian. He gained access temporarily to a Bible and obsessively began to memorize it and then share with others all that he was learning. The officials hated him and finally were able to imprison him. But, because he knew God was deep within him, he kept preaching the Good News, and before long everyone on his prison block knew about Jesus. He even baptized prison mates in the bathroom sink. Officials did all that they could to cancel this man, finally putting him in solitary, so he could not speak to others. But, the Spirit in him was already alive and well within the prison walls and love spread like wild fire. It was impossible to close the mouth of this man, impossible to cancel him because he knew that the God in him could not be canceled.

How is this cancel culture impacting your daily life? Is it bringing an awareness to you that God wants you to step out in boldness for your city, country, fellow believers? Are you afraid, or are you aware that giving in to the bullying that is happening in our culture cannot control God?

God is raising up a bold people to speak out for liberty. Are you joining this people or do you find that you tread softly? It’s not easy at all. I find that I have days I tread very softly, and then other times I am empowered with the boldness of Jesus and have a passion to use the freedom of speech God has given me.

We are in danger of loosing much of what we hold dear. We are in danger of attack. There are people that want Christians canceled. There are people that call the Bible hate speech! Our children are in danger of not knowing truth due to the education they receive. How can this be? Well, if you look back over history it is evident that the truth of Christianity has often been under attack, the enemy wants to cancel Christ! From the moment Christ was born, the enemy has been working to cancel him. His followers endured the same abuse. Yet, this cannot be canceled because Christ is reality and truth.

Now is not the time to be passive. Now is the time to grab onto our gift of life. “For you will appear among them as shining lights in the universe, offering them the words of eternal life.” Philippians 2:15 We must pray! We must stand! We must speak! We must pray! “Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him the details of your life.” Philippians 4:6

Now is the time to rest in the assurance and knowledge of who you are in Christ Jesus and firmly pronounce that you will not cancel that!
