Friends

There was loyalty so strong they were willing to die for him, just as he died for them. They walked together through one trial after another, they persevered!

“And we find at the end of a perfect day, The soul of a friend we’ve made.”

Our new puppy has quickly become our daughters best friend, and she his. I love watching their relationship, and the obvious bond that is growing stronger with each day. When she is gone, and I have puppy duty, he clearly misses her. He will go searching for her in her room, and when he doesn’t find her, he lets out a little whine. Poor puppy! His loyalty to her is very endearing.

Friends are priceless, aren’t they? I want to honor my friends today and let each one of them know how much I love them and how very thankful I am to have them in my life. It is a privilege to know each one of them, all the way back to grade school years, high school, and college.

I’ve thought a lot about Jesus and his disciples and the friendship between all of them. In the three years that they all spent together, there was a deep, intimate bond that developed. There was loyalty so strong they were willing to die for him, just as he died for them. They walked together through one trial after another, they persevered! After Jesus ascended his friends remained true to him; they traveled all over the place just to tell others about him. They shared in the joy of knowing him, and spread that joy all over the world. We are still doing it today. Amazing.

This is the kind of friend I want to be. Sometimes I fail miserably. I want to share in the joy and tell others about how great my friends are. I want to help them succeed, and embrace the things that are meaningful to them. I want to help them progress in their passions, and be loyal to who God has created them to be. This is the kind of friend I want to be!

Think of your friends today and tag them and comment below on how dear they are to you.
